Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical therapeutic efficacy of the photonic traditional Chinese medicine information therapeutics in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Methods:60 DPN patients meeting the inclusion criteria were randomly grouped to treatment group which involved the photonic TCM information therapeutics plus medical therapy and control group with medical therapy alone in 1∶1 ratio by order of treatment. On the basis of conventional treatment for diabetes mellitus, control group used western medicine Methycobal, 500 μg, 3 times a day for 4 weeks; while treatment group used the treatment of control group plus photonic Traditional Chinese Medicine information therapeutics, once every two days, 3 times a week and continuously for 4 weeks. Patients’clinical symptoms, neurological symptoms and signs, the peripheral nerve conduction velocity and blood glucose were measured before and after treatment to evaluate the comprehensive therapeutic effects. Results:The clinical comprehensive therapeutic effects of the treatment group was significantly superior to the control group (P<0.05).The improvement of TCM symptoms, neurological symptoms and nerve conduction velocity of the treatment group were significantly superior to the control group (P<0.05). Within group comparison showed that FBG, 2 h PBG, HbAlc of treatment group after treatment were all reduced significantly(P<0.01), while those of control were not reduced significantly(P>0.05); Between groups comparison showed that the changes of those indexes after treatment between groups had no significant difference(P>0.05.Conclusion:The photonic TCM information therapeutics combined with methycobal not only has some advantage compared with the control group in improving DPN patients’ TCM symptoms, peripheral nerve symptoms and signs, nerve conduction velocity, but also has a certain auxiliary hypoglycemic trend.
