Abstract:Mitophagy plays an important role in maintaining the balance between mitochondrial quality and quantity in cells by selectively identifying and removing damaged, aged and dysfunctional mitochondria. Compared with the research progresses in mammal and yeast, the regulatory mechanisms of mitophagy in plant are still unclear. Based on a GFP tag, this work investigated the occurrence of mitophagy in Arabidopsis upon oxidative stress. We found that methyl viologen could induce mitochondria accumulated in vacuole, showing the following two patterns:1)mitochondria contained in GFP bodies;2)mitochondria only. The GFP tag strategy can provide reference for the selection of key regulatory factors of mitophage in plants.
